Couldn’t resist posting this little scene from Jen’s Tefillin Barbie workshop.

Thanks for sharing the picture.
But I find it jarring, and not because of the Barbies. Jen entitled her post “The Clone Minyan.” Isn’t the idea of a clone minyan something of a yetzer hara/temptation? I bet lots of people choose a synagogue or minyan based on the assumption that “The other people there are just like me!” That’s a scary idea, and a temptation to overcome… Something to think about.
I’m with Uri on the freakiness of the clone minyan.
On the other hand, I sent these pics to my nieces, who are crazed barbie lovers, ugh. But they loved them and are really interested in tfillin and torah reading because of it. So, nu? What to do?
Of course it’s freaky, that was why I took a photograph of it. It’s also not a Grand Statement of something or other, it’s because I had a lot of Barbies done and thought I’d have a bit of fun. If someone doesn’t like it, they’re very free to ignore it.
