Big public congratulatory love to my boy Micah over at St. Jerome’s Library, who was ordained Deacon this weekend. He is now The Rev. Dn. Micah. And in six months, he’ll get ordained again, as priest. Those Episcopalians put their clergy through the tilt-a-whirl, no?
He’s the bareheaded guy. I can’t wait until he gets to be the kind of Big Fancy Anglican who gets a hat.
Yay Micah!!
Thanks, Danya! But I thought you liked me? Why would you wish that I be made a bishop? I don’t think so. By the way, if you like that hat (which is called a miter [or mitre, in Britain]), I commend to you this photoessay.
Bonus: There are other kinds of Anligcan hats though. For example, here’s a picture of the Pope (another job I will never have) wearing the clerical headgear the Christians call the zuchetto. Perhaps you’ll recognize it. As a lower cleric, if I wore one, mine would be black. Expect to see me sporting one at your smicha (when the time comes).
Those mitres are pretty nifty, it’s true. It’s a gigantic pity that the only way to get that gear is to go bishop. You sure you won’t consider it? (The whirling dervishes do pretty OK in the hat department as well.)
I like the Christian kippah a lot as well, though. It’s kind of Breslover-ish but with a little more class.
BS”D
LOL! It’s *all* about the hat 😀
Honestly, though, mitres & shtreimls have got to be the best noggin-dressing ever…
I want one of those cool hat things. Though doesn’t it get hot. Though I would take a shtreimel (with fake fur, of course).
