The Shatz place is incredible. Looks like this small shop, then you go downstairs to this underground labyrinth of random books on everything.

For your basic stuff in that area there is also Pomerantz on Shmuel Hanagid, they seem, pretty reasonable.

While on the topic of books...I'm a relative newcomer to this blog and I was wondering if there's a better place to buy your book from than say amazon.com, buy.com, etc.

Thanks,
Abby

Oh, yes. This is the supersecret closet-appearing magic-insides bookstore. I bought a number of wonderful things there. Unfortunately not a shas and mishneh torah...
Go back there often. I would if I could...

Oooh, that's a good tip, thank you. I'll totally check it out--and will be willing to schlep all the way to the Old City with my granny cart to get 'em out, if need be....

I'm sure they have enough books for both of us :)

BTW, if you don't find what you're looking for second-hand, I recommend trying Moriah in the Old City, at the top of the steps going down to the Kotel from the Jewish Quarter. They have lots of stock, prices are reasonable, and they don't have any hangups about women buying sifrei kodesh (my sister bought all her sefarim there when she was at Pardes). Only problem is that you have a long shlep out with the books.

Bookstore--could be on Shatz. Didn't pay attention to the street name. It's off HaMelekh George, like a block or two south of Ben Yehuda (tho why am I giving away such a good secret like that? Stupid girl! If you go there and they have a Shulchan Aruch or a Tur, save it for me!!!!)
