and I thought uploading all that Fugazi was a bad idea…

I just downloaded a whole bunch of MP3s from Virtual Cantor to work on learning nusach (melodies) for services I don’t yet know well enough to lead, namely (right now) High Holy Day stuff.

This is a good thing. But oh man is this going to mess up my iTunes random shuffle.

  1. *giggle* I don’t use random shuffle too often myself, but — yep, been there. (Some of the transitions you get are theologically inspired.)

  2. Wow. I had no idea they had cantillation that you could download, but I so should have guessed. I finally got a tape (from a friend at shul) with all different trope systems, including special-occasion ones like Kohelet and Shir haShirim (which I REALLY want to learn - it’s so beautiful). Now I just have to make myself listen to it.
I leyn Torah at my shul, but I always like Haftarah trope way better (both standard Western systems; I imagine tropes are different in Israel?). I’ve thought of composing a new Torah trope system, but likewise, never got around to it.

  3. Hee. Sorry - and that last comment was the work of Ruth, aka Yaldat Chayil. :]
